Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution .

The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: “It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be unsafe.

“These kinds of products being sold, usually online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.

“You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the result drugs like this might have on your health.”
