Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A guy was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines through the internet.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: “It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

“These types of products being sold, typically online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.

“You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health.”
